Time to End "Snapperfest"
"Snapperfest" is an event in which a large number of turtles are taken from the wild and are exploited and abused. A vast majority of them end up dead. Either due to injuries from the abuse, or from having their throats slit if they bite someone.
This game involves people who violently grab a turtle. The contestant must grab the turtles (around the neck) without getting bit. Then, the contestant slams the turtle against the ground causing severe pain, stress, and injuries.
According to local authorities, this event is "legal." Please help us put an end to this horrendous game. Please consider making a small donation to our 501c3 animal rights & rescue organization, so we can purchase protesting posters, as well as motels for our staff to stay in - so we can protest the full length of the event, which is usually two or three days.
GCG vs. SeaWorld
We have sent a request to SeaWorld parks & entertainment to rehabilitate and release all captive cetaceans residing in their amusement parks to seaside sanctuaries at a minimum, or legal action will be proceeded.
The Global Conservation Group legal team is working hard to help bring SeaWorld to justice. Seaworld takes animals from the wild, and places them in small tanks for their whole lives. The animals are also forced to perform silly tricks, or they will not get fed! More details about our lawsuit against SeaWorld are to follow in future blog posts, as well as on this page once more information becomes available to us. We have sent a letter to SeaWorld informing them of this action.
We will be filing a lawsuit with a FL county court early next year. We'll be going after SeaWorld Orlando for "FLA. STAT. ANN. sec. 228.13(2010) Confinement of animals without sufficient exercise - misdemeanor of the first degree. Punishable as provided in section 775.082 or by a fine of not more than $5,000 or by both imprisonment and a fine."
We would like to thank you for your continued support of our efforts to end animal exploitation worldwide.
Please support our work on behalf of the animals, by donating to us.
